Cisco has upgraded its Webex video conferencing with new features to transform the customer and employee experiences.
Cisco’s Webex competes with Microsoft, Zoom and Google Meet.
IDC report indicates that Cisco’s unified communications & collaboration (UC&C) revenue in Q2 2020 was $1.3 billion, up 11.7 percent quarter over quarter and 4.4 percent year over year. The company was second overall with 11.1 percent global UC&C market share for the quarter.
IDC expects that worldwide UC&C growth will be driven by customers across all business size segments (small, midsize and large) with interest especially in cloud-based solutions for voice, video and collaboration, mobile applications, and digital transformation projects, Rich Costello, senior research analyst, Unified Communications and Collaboration, said in October 2020.
Cisco recently said its standing as a Leader in the 2020 IDC MarketScape Enterprise Videoconferencing report is a strong indicator that customers continue to believe in the Webex vision and strategy.
Cisco’s announcement on All New Webex was made during WebexOne digital collaboration conference organised by Cisco to bring together several stakeholders and discuss the future of work.
The All New Webex is a one-stop solution for calling, meeting and messaging. During the conference, Cisco announced over 50 innovations, all within three categories – smart hybrid work experiences, intelligent customer experiences and seamless collaboration.
The largest enterprise networking company – based in the United States — aims to provide a better solution for video conferencing in the post-pandemic world where employees are more likely to switch between office and remote working often.
Cisco said all the new features will ensure that the platform would remain secure and private. Zoom faced several security issues.
The Webex platform would get a noise cancellation and speech enhancement features, along with closed captioning and transcription. The video communications platform will have action items and highlights, enhanced video layouts and Webex Huddle, which allows spontaneous meetings with a single click.
Cisco has also added AI-powered features for messaging, while the new calling features would allow users to focus on important matters. There are also new features for analytics which would deliver highly personalised insights.
The company has also announced real-time translations in as many as nine languages, immersive capabilities for sharing and body movement recognition-based in-meeting gestures.
The WebexOne conference also witnessed the announcement of new devices from Cisco. These are Webex Desk Camera, Webex Desk Hub and the Webex Desk.
