Axis Communications at a trade eventNetwork video company Axis Communications has launched AXIS Device Manager, a cost-effective on-premise device management tool to manage major installation and operational device management tasks.

AXIS Device Manager will replace AXIS Camera Management. The company is offering this as a free download at AXIS Device Manager.

The company said AXIS Device Manager performs easy configuration of devices, complete with backup and restore settings, as well as efficient installation of firmware upgrades. It facilitates efficient device configuration including device hardening and certificate deployment.

AXIS Device Manager is suitable for managing up to a couple of thousand Axis network cameras, access control and audio devices on one site — or several thousand devices across multiple sites.

AXIS Device Manager, a further development of its popular AXIS Camera Management software platform, will help protect devices and networks against cybersecurity risks and applies cybersecurity controls by managing HTTPS and upload IEEE 802.1x certificates, accounts and passwords.

AXIS Device Manager cuts total installation time down to 30 minutes, compared to an estimated 106 hours through a standard web interface. The time to execute tasks such as, installing AXIS Camera Application Platform (ACAP), upgrading firmware, configuring and cyber hardening devices, can be reduced by 90 percent or more.

AXIS Device Manager offers enhancements to device security by enabling centralized account, password and certificate management as well as hardening devices according to the Axis hardening guide. It will be a cost efficient tool for system installers and administrators to proactively manage and implement critical security management functions.
