NCR and Wells Fargo unveil weatherized ATM for harsh climate

NCR Corporation and Wells Fargo have worked together to design and develop the full function weatherized ATM for exterior walk-up environments.

Company said banks can deliver more services to customers in more locations with new free standing ATMs.

Industry’s first full function weatherized ATM, NCR SelfServ 37 also performs a wide variety of banking functions including no-envelope cash and check deposit on contrary, existing weatherized ATMs perform only cash withdrawal.

This apart, NCR’s new ATM can withstand extreme temperatures, humidity and rain.

The NCR SelfServ 37 can perform normally in temperatures from -31◦ F (-35◦ C) to 113◦ F (45◦ C) and in 10 to 100 percent relative humidity.

According to company, NCR SelfServe37 also features a sunlight-readable touchscreen display.

The new ATM requires less space and thus is ideal for locations such as store fronts, coffee shops, parking lots, college campuses and other high traffic areas.

Also, weatherized ATMs allow financial institutions to offer services including check cashing and bill payments closer to where customers live, work and shop.
