Infotech Lead Asia: IT – BPO are the top priorities for BJP in Karnataka polls when its chief ministerial candidate Jagadish Shettar seeks votes on 5 May, 2013.
BJP, in an online campaign, takes credit for setting up the state Knowledge Commission, Innovation Commission, Skill Commission. The BJP, which is facing tough conditions in Karnataka, says its measures have resulted in more meaningful implementation of projects.
The ruling party has several claims. BJP says it set 9 new universities, 9 new government engineering colleges, 5 medical colleges and 43 polytechnics. During the BJP regime, first grade colleges doubled from 165 to 356. Medical seats have almost doubled. The state government created 2.82 lakh employment opportunities.
In addition, Karnataka’s budget crossed Rs 1 lakh crore. Karnataka saved a sum of Rs 17,000 crore to the exchequer by effectively implementing the e-governance.
BJP says its Sakala program of timely delivery of 265 government services, resulted in receipt of 1.75 crore applications.
Moreover, government formulated several policies covering industries, mining, textiles, IT-BT, tourism, youth, renewable energy, agri business development and semiconductor to boost the development.
Though the BJP talks about e-governance and IT growth, it does not share actual growth in the last 5 years. Besides, the party does not talk about the growth in rural Karnataka. Seems BJP is focused on Bangalore than its victory in Karnataka.
