HP and IIITB launch new IT infrastructure certificate programs

Infotech Lead Asia: HP Education Services in association with the International Institute of Information Technology-Bangalore (IIITB) launched new IT infrastructure certificate programs for undergraduate students.

At a press meet in Bangalore, HP and IIIT-B did not share details about course fee.

These programs are aimed at supporting students to explore careers in the growing remote infrastructure management industry.

According to NASSCOM, India’s share of global remote infrastructure management industry will be 45 percent by the year 2020. India lacks skilled manpower to monitor and manage these infrastructures, while ensuring uptime and availability.

The Indian remote infrastructure management industry currently employs more than 100,000 people and NASSCOM expects demand for resources to more than triple by 2015.

“Through a combination of HP’s technology education services and IIITB’s mentorship, Indian undergraduates in the networking certificate programs can build their IT skill set, therefore ensuring a steady stream of skilled workers for the industry,” said S Sadagopan, director, IIIT-Bangalore.

IIITB will design the program, while HP Education Services will provide a blended model of classroom training to be conducted at the company’s centers across India, as well as Virtual Instructor Led Training (vILT) sessions that enable IIITB faculty to mentor students through virtual sessions.
