Infotech Lead Asia: HCL Infosystems has signed a major laptop deal with the Chhattisgarh Infotech & Biotech Promotion Society (CHiPS) to supply 14,000 laptops the first phase of the project.
The specifications of the laptops that will be given to the students includes Intel Dual core processor with 2 GB RAM, 500 GB Hard disk and Wi-Fi among other features.
HCL did not disclose the size of the laptop order size. Recently, HP, one of the main rivals of HCL, supplied laptops to the Uttar Pradesh government.

Chhattisgarh Government’s project is aimed at free distribution of laptops to final year engineering and medical students of Government-aided and Private Colleges across the state during the year 2013.
HCL Infosystems will provide 14000 laptops to the students in different districts comprising of 51 colleges across Chhattisgarh.

HCL, which has 1 regional office, 1 area office and 7 location offices with more than 70 engineers covering the entire state, will set up its service centers in few districts to offer maintenance and handle any service requests.
