3M selected to support Rhode Island’s All-Payer Claims Database

3M Health Information Systems has been awarded a contract to support Rhode Island’s recently launched Rhode Island All-Payer Claims Database (RI-APCD).

RI-APCD provides data about hospital quality and cost to help consumers make informed healthcare decisions and become active participants in managing their own care. It collects and aggregates enrollment, medical claims, pharmacy claims, and provider data from commercial insurers and public payers such as Medicare and Medicaid.

Under the contract, 3M will provide quality assurance, data management, analytics, access and reporting of RI-APCD data, which can be used to ensure transparency of information about access, quality, utilization, efficiency, and cost of Rhode Island’s healthcare delivery system.

3M Health Information Systems provides technology and analytics for Utah’s APCD, the Texas Association of Health Plans multi-payer initiative, and the Center for Improving Value in Health Care which operates the Colorado APCD, as well as multiple payer initiatives involving Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.
