The enterprise wireless local area network (WLAN) market declined 22.8 percent year-over-year and grew 12.4 percent quarter-on-quarter to $2.3 billion in the second quarter of 2024 (2Q24), according to International Data Corporation (IDC) report.

Wi-Fi 6E, which opens Wi-Fi to use the 6 GHz band of unlicensed spectrum, accounted for 30 percent of the dependent access point (AP) market’s revenues in 2Q24 vs 14.3 percent a year earlier.
Wi-Fi 7 standard accounted for 2.8 percent of the dependent AP segment’s revenues. Most remaining dependent APs were Wi-Fi 6 generation.
“There are advancements in the enterprise WLAN industry, such as the new Wi-Fi 7 standard, a significant amount of new unlicensed 6GHz spectrum available for Wi-Fi, and the powerful role of AI and cloud-based management to enhance WLAN automation and performance,” said Brandon Butler, senior research manager, Enterprise Networks, IDC.
