Top Cloud IT infrastructure vendors in Q1 2017

IT industry research agency IDC has revealed the name of top technology companies in the Cloud IT infrastructure space.
Cloud IT Infrastructure Vendor Revenue, Q1 2017Cloud IT infrastructure vendors include Dell, HPE and Cisco Systems. Dell has 16.2 percent share in the Cloud IT infrastructure market. HPE’s share in the global Cloud IT infrastructure market was 14 percent. Cisco has 11.3 percent share in the worldwide Cloud IT infrastructure market.

Cloud IT infrastructure vendor revenue from sales of infrastructure products such as server, storage, and Ethernet switch for cloud IT, including public and private cloud, rose 14.9 percent to $8 billion in Q1 2017.

Cloud IT infrastructure sales as a share of worldwide IT spending grew to 39 percent, up 33.9 percent a year ago.

Revenue from infrastructure sales to private cloud grew 6 percent to $3.1 billion, and to public cloud by 21.7 percent to $4.8 billion. Revenue in the traditional (non-cloud) IT infrastructure segment fell 8 percent.

Private cloud infrastructure growth was led by Ethernet switch at 15.5 percent growth, followed by storage at 10 percent and server at 2.1 percent.

Public cloud growth was led by storage with 49.5 percent growth, followed by Ethernet switch at 22.7 percent and server at 8.7 percent.

In traditional IT deployments, server declined the most (9.3 percent year over year), with Ethernet switch and servers declining 4.4 percent and 6.1 percent, respectively.

“With positive dynamics in purchasing activity by hyperscalers across all technology segments we expect a strong year ahead for the fastest growing public cloud segment. As end users continue to embrace the benefits of private cloud infrastructures, spending in this segment will also expand,” said Natalya Yezhkova, research director for Enterprise Storage at IDC.
