Enterprise and service provider (SP) router market revenue dipped 1.4 percent to $3.31 billion.
China’s Ethernet switch market rose 29.7 percent to $769.8 million.
The Ethernet switch market in the United States increased 7 percent to $2.44 billion.

Rohit Mehra, vice president, Network Infrastructure at IDC, said: “Software-based network intelligence platforms that add to the intrinsic value of networking, and the push by large enterprises, hyperscalers, and service providers to leverage faster Ethernet switching speeds for cloud rollouts are driving the market.”
10Gb Ethernet switch (Layer 2/3) revenue increased 5.1 percent to $2.05 billion.
10Gb Ethernet port shipments rose 41.6 percent.
40Gb Ethernet revenues fell 4 percent despite port shipments growing 7.8 percent, reflecting price erosion in the market and unfavorable price performance ratios relative to 25Gb and 100Gb products.
25Gb revenue increased 176 percent with port shipments growing 359 percent.
100Gb revenue increased 83.8 percent to $742.5 million and port shipments grew 117.7 percent.
1Gb Ethernet revenues rose 5.4 percent, with port shipments up 15.8 percent, showing the interest in refreshing campus and branch networks.
The enterprise and service provider router market fell 1.4 percent.
Router market for enterprises decreased 2.7 percent.
Router market for larger service provider decreased 0.9 percent.

Cisco achieved 7.6 percent increase in Ethernet switching revenues and market share of 53.4 percent against 55 percent share in Q1 2017 and 58.9 percent in Q1 2016.
Cisco’s service provider and enterprise router revenue decreased 10.2 percent with market share dipping to 39.8 percent in Q1 2018 from 43.7 percent in Q1 2017.
Huawei’s Ethernet switch revenue grew 41.2 percent for a market share of 8.1 percent from 6.3 percent in Q1 2017. Huawei’s enterprise and SP router revenue increased 25.9 percent for 25.1 percent share compared to 19.8 percent.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s (HPE) Ethernet switch revenue grew 11.1 percent for a market share of 6 percent.
Arista Networks’ Ethernet switching revenue rose 39.9 percent for a market share of 6.5 percent against 5.1 percent.
Juniper’s Ethernet switch revenue fell 4.8 percent, dropping market share to 3.7 percent from 4.3 percent. Juniper’s combined service provider and enterprise router revenues dipped 21.8 percent, with market share falling to 12.3 percent from 15.5 percent.
