Server market share of Dell, HPE, Inspur, Lenovo and Cisco in first quarter

The latest IDC report has revealed server market revenue rose 4.4 percent to $19.8 billion during the first quarter of 2019. Server shipments fell 5.1 percent to just under 2.6 million units.

The report also disclosed the server market share of Dell Technologies, HPE, Inspur, Lenovo and Cisco during the first quarter of 2019.

The server market slowed after experiencing six consecutive quarters of double-digit revenue growth.

Volume server revenue increased 4.2 percent to $16.7 billion.

Midrange server revenue grew 30.2 percent to $2.1 billion.

High-end systems declined 24.7 percent to $976 million.

“Demand from both enterprise buyers and hyperscale companies purchasing through ODMs was less voracious than in previous quarters,” said Sebastian Lagana, research manager, Infrastructure Platforms and Technologies at IDC.

Dell Technologies has 20.2 percent revenue share in the server market. HPE has 17.8 percent revenue share in the server market.

Dell Technologies server revenue grew 8.9 percent.

HPE server revenue increased 0.2 percent.

Inspur server revenue increased 36.4 percent.

Lenovo server revenue rose 3.9 percent.

Cisco server revenue increased 6.9 percent year over year.

The ODM Direct group of vendors accounted for 23 percent of total server market revenue and declined 1 percent to $4.55 billion, IDC said.
