Security appliance revenue increased 16.7 percent to $4.5 billion, while unit shipments rose 20 percent to nearly 1.1 million units in Q4 2018.
Cisco with 14.1 percent share, Palo Alto Networks with 12.8 percent, Fortinet with 9.9 percent, Check Point with 9.5 percent and Symantec with 4.2 percent are the top security appliance vendors in Q4 2018.
Cisco generated revenue of $627.5 million from security appliance market, followed by Palo Alto Networks $569.6 million, Fortinet $441.4 million, Check Point $426.2 million and Symantec $186 million from security appliance market in Q4 2018, said IDC in its report on security appliances market.
The Unified Threat Management (UTM) market segment accounted for over $220 million more in revenue for Q4 than in Q3.
UTM grew 19.7 percent and accounts for 50.9 percent of the security appliance market. Web security grew 5.5 percent. Messaging security increased 18.1 percent.
Hybrid VPN declined 10.4 percent, while IPsec VPN fell 20.1 percent.
