The global mobile device security client software market will grow at a CAGR of 25 percent during 2013–2018 to $4.1 billion in 2018, said Infonetics Research.
Growth drivers for the mobile device security software market will be the demand from consumer and enterprise users who are looking to control threats from apps and devices particularly aimed at Android devices.
Jeff Wilson, principal analyst for security at Infonetics Research, said: “Convergence of mobile device management, mobility, SSL VPN, and pure mobile device security also has a significant impact on the long-term opportunity for selling mobile security clients.”
Global mobile device security software revenue grew 10 percent sequentially to $466 million in the second quarter of 2014.
Asia Pacific accounted for 35 percent of security client revenue, North America 33 percent, EMEA 29 percent and Latin America at 3 percent.
Infonetics Research said 55 percent of the total security client market came from enterprise mobile client revenue, while consumer mobile security client revenue comprised 45 percent.
