Lenovo is leading the Indian tablet market with 26.1 percent market share in Q4 2017 as its shipment grew 34.2 percent year on year.
Lenovo’s shipments fell 31.7 percent from the previous quarter. Lenovo’s strong focus in the commercial segment has helped it to remain in the leadership position for three consecutive quarters.
iBall has grabbed the second position replacing Samsung for the first time. iBall’s tablet shipment rose 15.2 percent. iBall is the leader in the consumer segment after gaining the share from the technology vendors who have shifted their focus to commercial segment of the tablet market in India.
Samsung slipped to the third place. Samsung’s tablet shipments fell 17 percent year over year and 22.1 percent from the previous quarter.
Apple is in the fourth position with 30.5 percent annual and 9.1 percent sequential growth in Q4 2017. Apple achieved this position thanks to growing demand for Apple’s iPad and iPad Pro launches and the attractive cashback offers.
Datawind maintained its position in the top five companies despite the decline in shipments to almost half when compared to its volume with the same time a year ago.
IDC said Indian tablet market reached 717,000 tablets with a 32 percent sequential decline and flat year on year growth in 2017 Q4. The commercial tablet segment declined 35 percent quarter on quarter and grew 75 percent compared to the same quarter last year.
The India tablet market size was 3.2 million units in 2017 declining at 11 percent from 3.6 million units shipped in 2016.
