IT services revenues to decrease 4.8% in 2015

IT services revenues are expected to decrease 4.8 percent, while business services revenues will dip 0.2 percent in 2015 in U.S. current currency, said IDC.

However, both IT and business services are expected to return to positive growth in 2016, according to a new forecast from IDC Worldwide Semiannual Services Tracker. Asia Pacific region is expected to grow at a faster rate than other regions in 2016.

Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Asia Pacific (including Japan) are the main regions impacted most by currency exchange rate movements in 2015. Americas have experienced positive growth.

Hosting Infrastructure Services are expected to grow 8.2 percent, while Business Consulting Services will increase 7.7 percent in 2016. Cloud-related changes and developments are expected to continue driving the IT and Business Services industries, said IDC.

Hosting Infrastructure Services and Business Consulting Services are expected to see the largest revenue growth in the near term.

Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Systems Integration services are expected to retain the largest revenue pools in the long term. “These are $100-plus billion dollar markets respectively,” said Lisa Nagamine, research manager with IDC’s Worldwide Semiannual Services Tracker.
