The Indian PC market share — desk-based and mobile PC — of HP and Acer declined, while Dell and Lenovo increased share in Q2 2015.
HP’s Indian PC market share declined to 26.3 percent in Q2 2015 from 29.4 percent, said Gartner.
At the same time, the PC market share of Dell increased to 21.6 percent from 18.9 percent.
Lenovo, the Chinese PC brand, increased its share to 18.1 percent from 14 percent. Lenovo’s growth primarily came from the consumer PC segment where Lenovo grew by 59 percent.
The PC share of Acer dipped to 9.6 percent from 12.7 percent.
Gartner said the combined desk-based and mobile PC market in India decreased 13 percent to nearly 2.2 million units in the second quarter of 2015.
Consumers accounted for 48 percent of total PC sales.
”In the absence of substantial demand from enterprises, the Indian PC market performed dismally. The enterprise segment may witness some growth going forward due to government and education projects,” said Vishal Tripathi, research director at Gartner.
White boxes (including parallel imports), which accounted for 44 percent of the desktop market, fell 7 percent.
Mobile PCs dropped 18 percent due to a deeper slack in consumer demand, said Gartner.
