How router suppliers Cisco, Huawei, Juniper performed in Q2

Enterprise and service provider (SP) router market revenues grew 3.4 percent to $3.96 billion in the second quarter of 2019, according to IDC.

Service provider router market accounts for 75.9 percent of revenues. Service provider router market grew 2.0 percent. Enterprise router market rose 8 percent. Enterprise router market accounts for 24.1 percent of revenues.

Cisco’s service provider and enterprise router revenue rose 6.6 percent. Cisco’s enterprise router revenue increased 16.2 percent. Cisco’s SP router revenues grew 1.1 percent. Cisco’s SP and enterprise router market share increased to 36.8 percent from 35.7 percent.

Huawei’s SP and enterprise router revenue rose 1.5 percent. Huawei’s market share in SP and enterprise router was 31.1 percent.

Juniper posted 15 percent drop in enterprise and SP router sales. Juniper has a market share of 10.5 percent in the router market.

The router market is being driven by enterprises looking to connect to an increasing array of applications in conjunction with SD-WAN at the edge of their networks, said Petr Jirovsky, research director, IDC Networking Trackers.
