A majority of enterprises are planning to increase spending on web security, a survey by IHS revealed.
According to the study, 64 percent of the organizations participated have this plan and they believe majority of threats enter networks through unsafe web browsing.
“The constant game of cat and mouse played by attacker and attacked leads to technology innovation and increased investment,” IHS research director for cybersecurity technology Jeff Wilson said noting that none of the core threat mitigation markets contracted even during the last major recession.
According to respondents, the main reason for deploying new security solutions are protecting against data theft and leakage and upgrading security to match network performance.
However, cost is the main barrier affecting respondents’ deployment of new security solutions. Enterprise participants listed Cisco, IBM and Microsoft as the top three security technology vendors.
