Enterprise infrastructure tech leaders announced

Enterprise infrastructure market sizeSynergy Research Group has revealed the name of leading technology vendors in the main enterprise infrastructure segments in the last four quarters.

Technology vendor revenues across seven key enterprise infrastructure segments for the last four quarters declined 1 percent on an annualized basis.

Aggregate revenues for the last four quarters reached $88 billion, with revenue in each of the last twelve quarters typically in the $20-23 billion range.

Revenue from data center servers, the largest segment of the enterprise infrastructure market, fell by almost 5 percent in 2016.

Enterprise switches and routers, the second-largest enterprise infrastructure segment, experienced 1 percent growth.

WLAN grew the most while the enterprise voice and telepresence markets were challenged by price competition and market disruption.

Cisco Systems is the market leader in six of the seven enterprise infrastructure segments globally, said the report.

In data center servers, Cisco is ranked fifth.

Cisco’s market share over the last four quarters was 33 percent in aggregate across the seven segments.

HPE is the leader in data center servers and is the number two ranked vendor in both enterprise switches routers and WLAN. HPE has an aggregated market share of 16 percent over the four quarters.

Dell EMC is the number two ranked vendor in the enterprise data center servers market.

Avaya is the number two ranked vendor in enterprise voice systems.

Juniper Networks is the number two ranked vendor in network security market.

Microsoft is the number two ranked vendor in the UC applications market globally.

Polycom is the number two ranked vendor in telepresence market.

Technology vendors such as Palo Alto Networks (network security), Arista Networks (Ethernet switching), Huawei (Ethernet switching), HPE (WLAN) and Dell EMC (servers) are achieving steady market share growth in the respective segments.

“Cisco continues to control a third of the enterprise infrastructure market and remains in a league of its own despite a variety of challenges,” said Synergy Research Group’s founder and Chief Analyst Jeremy Duke.

HPE is the only broad-based competitor to challenge Cisco’s dominance though it does not compete in all of the major segments.
