Data center switching market achieved 16 percent revenue growth in Q1 2018. 100 Gigabit Ethernet port shipments more than doubled, report from Dell’Oro Group said.

“The growth was broad-based across both the cloud and enterprise segments. Capital spending by hyperscale customers such as Google, Microsoft and Facebook as well as smaller tier 2 and 3 cloud service providers was strong, contributing to the growth in switching and 100 Gigabit ports,” Sameh Boujelbene, senior director at Dell’Oro Group, said.

In addition, recovery in IT spending from large enterprises contributed to demand for 25 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet.

100 Gigabit Ethernet Switch ports contributed more than 30 percent of total revenue.
