The data center infrastructure market in India will grow 5.2 percent to $2 billion in 2016, according to IT market research firm Gartner.

Within the Indian IT infrastructure market, server revenue will increase 5.3 percent to $698 million in 2016. Enterprise networking revenue will grow 5.9 percent to $963 million in 2016.

Aman Munglani, research director at Gartner, said: “With increased focus on mobility and big data activities in India, software defined networking has the highest adoption rate amongst Indian enterprises.”

The storage market will increase 3 percent to $307 million in 2016. Storage modernization and consolidation, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery are some of the key drivers to this market.

The push towards cloud based infrastructure as a service (IaaS) within the SMB segment will negate the increase in storage spends in the enterprise space. Hyper converged integrated systems and storage technologies based on software-defined storage will encroach on the traditional ECB storage market.

Data center modernization will continue to be a key driver for infrastructure spends. Automation and orchestration are becoming high priorities. Software defined infrastructures, and an increased focus on disaster recovery and business continuity, will lead to an increased spend on infrastructure, said Gartner.
