The latest IDC report said converged systems market revenue rose 9.9 percent to $3.5 billion in the second quarter of 2018.
“HCI solutions helped to drive expansion thanks to their ability to reduce infrastructure complexity, promote consolidation, and allow IT teams to support business objectives,” Sebastian Lagana, research manager, Infrastructure Platforms and Technologies at IDC, said.
The certified reference systems & integrated infrastructure market generated $1.3 billion (–13.9 percent) in revenue – representing 38.1 percent of total converged systems revenue.
Dell was the largest supplier in this market segment with $639.8 million in sales and a 47.5 percent share.
Cisco/NetApp generated $481 million in sales, representing share of 35.7 percent.
HPE generated $108.4 million in sales, representing 8.1 percent market share.
Integrated platforms sales were $729.4 million (–12.5 percent) – representing 20.7 percent of the total converged systems market revenue.
Oracle was the top-ranked supplier of integrated platforms, generating revenues of $440.6 million and 60.4 percent share.
Revenue from hyperconverged systems sales were $1.5 billion (+78.1 percent) – representing 41.2 percent of the total converged systems market.
Dell is the largest supplier with $418.7 million in revenue and 28.8 percent share of the hyperconverged systems market.
Nutanix clocked $275.3 million in revenue with share of 18.9 percent in the hyperconverged systems market.
Cisco and HPE had revenue of $77.7 million and $72.0 million or 5.3 percent and 4.9 percent in market share, respectively.
