Synergy Research Group has revealed the growth of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, IBM and Google in the worldwide cloud infrastructure service market in Q2 2016.

The report noted that AWS, Microsoft, IBM and Google continue to grow more rapidly than their smaller competitors.

In aggregate, AWS, Microsoft, IBM and Google grew their cloud infrastructure service revenues 68 percent in Q2, while the next 20 largest cloud providers grew by 41 percent and all other smaller providers grew by 27 percent.

The global cloud infrastructure service market grew by 51 percent in Q2 2016.

While Amazon is continuing as the cloud infrastructure service leader in the second quarter of 2016, Microsoft and Google achieved higher growth rates. IBM has leadership in the hosted private cloud segment.

Cloud infrastructure service revenues — including IaaS, PaaS and hosted private cloud — reached the $8 billion milestone, while trailing twelve-month revenues are close to $28 billion. North America accounts for over half of the worldwide market. The size of EMEA and APAC regions is similar, while APAC has a higher growth rate.
