Cisco is leading the security appliance market with 16.6 percent share in Q4 2014, said IDC.
This was the first time since the fourth quarter of 2014 that Cisco failed to achieve double-digit year-over-year growth in a quarter.
Check Point, the #2 security appliance vendor, has 13.2 percent revenue share in Q4 2014. It gained 1.2 share points year over year. Check Point achieved 14.4 percent revenue growth and shipment growth of 25.6 percent in the fourth quarter.
Fortinet returned to the number 3 position with revenue growth of 27.4 percent and capturing 7.7 percent of revenues.
Fortinet remains the largest security appliance vendor in terms of shipments with 18.8 percent share of total unit shipments in Q4 2014, driven by its Unified Threat Management solution.
Palo Alto Networks has experienced the fastest year-over-year revenue growth. Palo Alto Networks had revenue growth of 53.3 percent and 7.6 percent share of worldwide revenues.
Blue Coat and McAfee are holding 4.3 percent share each. Both vendors posted dip in revenue share on a year over year and sequential basis.
Security appliance vendor revenue grew 8.6 percent to $2.6 billion in the fourth quarter, while shipments grew 16.7 percent to 635,933 units.
In 2014, revenue rose 8.4 percent to $9.4 billion and shipments grew 8.3 percent to 2.1 million units.
