Cisco continued to lead the security appliance market in the second quarter of 2015, International Data Corporation said Monday.
Cisco revenue increased 5.9 percent annually and 8.5 percent sequentially in the second trimester of the year. The company marked 17.1 percent share in vendor revenue.
Check Point remained the number two security appliance vendor with 11.9 percent year-over-year and 6.7 percent sequential revenue growth. Check Point ended the quarter with 12.8 percent worldwide revenue share.
Palo Alto Networks is the third largest security appliance maker, while Fortinet is the fourth largest vendor in security appliance market. The rank of Blue Coat in the global security appliance market is five, according to IDC statistics released on Monday.
The research agency said worldwide security appliance market revenues increased 9.6 percent year over year to $4.9 billion and volume shipments expanded 8.8 percent to 1.1 million in the first half of the year.
Figures for the second quarter of 2015 showed an increase of 12.2 percent to $2.6 billion in worldwide security appliance revenue. That was the 23rd consecutive quarter of revenue growth. Meanwhile, shipments grew 10.6 percent annually for the seventh consecutive quarter. Shipment volume totaled 567,388 units.
Regionally, Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) continued to experience solid annual growth in the second quarter of 2015 driven by Chinese demand.
