India’s networking market revenue, which includes Ethernet Switch, Routers, and WLAN segments, increased 5.1 percent during Q1 2021, according to IDC report.
Government — federal government and state government — was one of the key verticals that contributed to the growth in Indian enterprise network infrastructure business, the report said.
India Ethernet Switch Market
Switch market revenue in India rose 0.8 percent to $133.3 million. Government verticals showed strong signs of recovery with multiple large-sized deals. Other than government professional services, telecom, and manufacturing verticals contributed to the switching revenue during Q1 2021.
Cisco dominated the Ethernet Switch market with 56.5 percent share during 1Q21, followed by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and F5.
India Router Market
Router market revenue increased 4.7 percent to $72.5 million in Q1. The enterprise routing business grew 63.4 percent. Telecom vendor’s spending in router declined 17.2 percent, with carriers investing mainly on refreshes and bandwidth optimization requirements that were caused due to the work from home scenario. Investment from the government sector picked up during Q1 2021, making it one of the top business verticals followed by banking.
Cisco leads the router market with a 63.6 percent market share in 1Q21, followed by Juniper and Nokia.
India WLAN Market
India WLAN market rose 17.3 percent to $58.3 million. The enterprise WLAN increased 7.4 percent YoY and 20.8 percent QoQ. Professional services organizations have increased their spending on WLAN infrastrcuture during Q1 2021.
Manufacturing made investment in networking access point revenues with investments from pharmaceuticals, automobiles, and industrial durables. Business from verticals like education and hospitality remained stagnant.
IDC expects the enterprise-class access point investments to slow down again, with India going into the second phase of lockdown in Q2 2021.
The consumer gateway router business grew 29.5 percent to support the growing demand of employees and students working out of their homes. The gateway router business declined by 22.8 percent, owing to the excess supply available in the WLAN market.
TP-Link was the WLAN market leader with market share of 27.2 percent in the WLAN segment during 1Q21. Cisco was the market leader in the WLAN segment with 16.7 percent market share, followed by HPE with 16 percent. Both the vendors showed a strong recovery in Q1 2021.
