Cisco, Huawei up videoconferencing share, Polycom dips

Cisco and Huawei increased their revenue in enterprise videoconferencing equipment business, while Polycom fell in Q1 2015 year on year.

Enterprise videoconferencing and telepresence equipment revenue of Cisco declined 18.5 percent quarter over quarter and increased 8.8 percent year-over-year in Q1 2015, said IDC.

Cisco continues to lead the enterprise videoconferencing equipment market with a 42.6 percent share in the first quarter.

The Q1 2015 revenue of Polycom dropped 15.7 percent quarter over quarter and 10.1 percent year over year. The second largest player is Polycom with 25.4 percent share in videoconferencing equipment market.

Revenue of Huawei decreased 45.3 percent quarter-over-quarter and increased 43.2 percent year over year. Huawei, a Chinese ICT player, ranked third with an 11 percent share of the enterprise videoconferencing market, said IDC.

IDC said videoconferencing equipment revenue fell 21 percent quarter over quarter and rose 2.2 percent year over year to $484 million. The total number of videoconferencing units sold fell 16.4 percent quarter over quarter and grew 20.5 percent year over year.

Multi-codec telepresence equipment revenue fell 47.4 percent quarter over quarter and 36.2 percent year over year to $18.7 million. Unit shipments declined 46.3 percent sequentially and 30 percent year over year.

Room-based videoconferencing system revenue fell 14.8 percent quarter over quarter and rose 9.9 percent year over year to $327 million. Unit shipments decreased 15.2 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2014 and increased 21 percent compared to Q1 2014.

Personal videoconferencing systems revenue, including executive desktop systems, decreased 22.6 percent quarter over quarter and increased 37.8 percent year over year to $44 million.

Video infrastructure equipment revenue, including MCUs and other video-related infrastructure, decreased 30.8 percent quarter over quarter and 17.9 percent year over year to $93.7 million.
