Palo Alto Networks and Fortinet have enhanced their share in Security appliance market, says the latest IDC report.
Cisco, Check Point and SonicWALL lost share in Security appliance market.
Palo Alto Networks (18.9 percent), Cisco (16.1 percent), Fortinet (14.3 percent), Check Point (9.1 percent) and SonicWALL (3.7 percent) are the leading vendors in the global Security appliance market in Q2 2021.
The Q2 2020 share of Palo Alto Networks (18.3 percent), Cisco (17.2 percent), Fortinet (12.9 percent), Check Point (9.1 percent) and SonicWALL (3.7 percent).
The latest IDC report said the security appliance market revenue grew 12.2 percent in the second quarter of 2021 to nearly $4.7 billion.
Total security appliance shipments grew 15 percent in the second quarter to nearly 1.3 million units, IDC report said.
The Unified Threat Management (UTM) market revenue grew 17.1 percent and accounted for 65 percent of total vendor revenue for security appliances.
All other security markets – Content Management, Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP), and Virtual Private Network (VPN) – had achieved single-digit growth rates. Traditional Firewall revenue showed a slight decline in the second quarter.
“The security appliance market delivered another quarter of strong growth in Q2 2021, which highlights the relevance of security hardware as part of mixed strategies designed to protect hybrid ecosystems within different vertical industries,” said Carlo Davila, research manager, Enterprise Trackers at IDC.
