Cisco, Avaya, NEC, Mitel lead PBX and UC market in Q3

Cisco, Avaya, NEC and Mitel lead the combined PBX and unified communications market in Q3 2014, said Infonetics Research.

The PBX market including TDM, hybrid, and pure IP fell 7 percent year-over-year in Q3 2014, but rose 5 percent sequentially.

PBX license shipments deceased 2 percent in Q3 2014 on annual basis.

The report said the enterprise telephony market continues to struggle as businesses hold off new PBX purchases.

The Asia Pacific region achieved double-digit revenue gain. North America faced double digit revenue decline.

UC applications increased 21 percent.

“Companies are evaluating cloud alternatives and investing in UC applications instead of PBXs, and purchase cycles are getting longer,” said Diane Myers, principal analyst for VoIP, UC, and IMS at Infonetics Research.
