Security appliance market revenue increased 11.1 percent quarter over quarter and 17 percent year over year to $3.6 billion in the second quarter of 2018.
Cisco has increased its security appliance share to 15.5 percent in Q2 2018 from 14.6 percent in Q2 2017.
Palo Alto Networks’s security appliance market share rose to 14.4 percent from 13.7 percent.
Security appliance share of Fortinet increased to 10.7 percent from 10.4 percent.
Check Point has lost its security appliance share to 10.7 percent from 12.3 percent.
Symantec has lost its security appliance share to 4.3 percent from 5.1 percent.
IDC said security appliance unit shipments increased 9.9 percent quarter over quarter and 25.3 percent year over year to 921,278 units.
The Unified Threat Management (UTM) sub-market continues to drive the worldwide market with revenue increasing by 9.6 percent quarter over quarter and 16.5 percent year over year to $1.9 billion. UTM comprises 52.9 percent of the total security appliance market.
Web security market rose 7.3 percent quarter over quarter and 7.8 percent year over year. Messaging security market shipments rose 9 percent year over year, but fell 2.6 percent quarter over quarter. Ipsec VPN and SSL VPN revenue fell.
