The Third Smart Cities India 2017 Expo began in Delhi on Wednesday. Taiwan Excellence is showcasing 86 products of 40 brands with a focus on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) products.
Taiwan Excellence — which represents the innovative and technological image of Taiwan’s most competitive industries — is participating in the expo at the Pragati Maidan for the second year in a row.
It has partnered with world-class brands to offer smart ICT, smart healthcare products, Internet of Things solutions and smart-life devices, a statement from Taiwan External Trade Development Council said.

It said several Taiwanese-based companies were already collaborating with governments across the world to provide smart solutions.
“We look forward to providing our expertise for India’s Smart Cities Mission because we believe that India has a huge regard for innovation and cutting-edge technology products,” said Michael Lin, director of Taipei World Trade Centre Liaison.
Sanjeev Sanyal, principal economic adviser, Ministry of Finance, said that smartness of any city will depend on getting high quality of human capital. He was speaking at the inaugural conference session called Smarter Solutions for a Better Tomorrow.
“Smart city from the mobility perspective means accessibility of green transport to all the citizens. Smart city creates equal job opportunities for the urban as well as the rural population. The success of the mission lies in the implementation with the help of private partnership,” said Oleg Kamberski, head – Passenger Transport & Taxis, International Road Transport Union (IRU), Belgium.
Rajiv Gauba, secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, said: “The Smart City Mission has come to represent urban transformation and it’s interesting to see the ground work being undertaken. The idea of smart cities would no doubt boost business, and the economy of the country.”
India government is in the process of developing over 900 smart city projects.
Oracle CEO Safra A Catz said: “The Internet of Things, Big Data and Analytics are being harnessed to drive best solutions. Today, many global cities are mega cities with a population of over 10 million, and in those cities digitisation is the only way forward to match with the pace of movement.”
