Singapore projects dominate at 2022 IDC Smart City Asia Pacific awards

IDC released its 2022 Smart City Asia Pacific Awards (SCAPA) Winners. IDC received over 330 smart city nominations from public and private enterprises in Asia Pacific. 22 projects in 15 eService categories were named as the best of the best in their respective fields.

In its 8th year, SCAPA 2022 saw the Southeast Asia region securing 7 of the 22 awards – Singapore with 6 and Indonesia with 1. While the East Asia region bagged 11 of the 22 awarded initiatives in total – Taiwan with 5, China with 4, and South Korea with 2.

“IDC’s eighth year of SCAPA Awards stand as another milestone in the series. After the peak of Covid waves, cities focused on the next normal with increased adoption of digital, targeting socio-economic impact. We witnessed record participation this year, with 300+ nominations and quarter of a million unique public votes,” says Gerald Wang, research manager, public sector.

These are the winners of the 2022 IDC Smart City Asia/Pacific Awards by category and the outstanding smart city initiatives that distinguished them (arranged alphabetically):

– 3D Public Safety Inspection and Warning System by the Kaohsiung City Government wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Public Safety – Data-Driven Policing.

– Asynchronous Data Exchange (ADEX) by Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Administration.

– Classroom of the Future (CotF) by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Education.

– COVID-19 Vaccination and Vaccinated Differentiated Safe Management Measure (VDS) by Ministry of Health (MOH) and Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Pandemic Management.

– Digital Twin System of Zhangjiawan Town by Beijing Municipal Institute of City Planning & Design wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Urban Planning and Land Use.

– eCanvas by Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Digital Equity and Accessibility.

– Floating Energy Storage System by Energy Market Authority and Keppel Offshore & Marine wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Urban Planning and Land Use.

– Intelligent Unmanned Tax Service Pioneer Plan by the Taichung City Government wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Digital Equity and Accessibility.

– Smart Water Networks Information Platform by the Water Department of Hainan Province wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Smart Water.

– IoT-based Smart Green City Services by Korea Land and Housing Corporation wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Sustainable Infrastructure.

– i-Voting by the Taipei City Government wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Civic Engagement.

– Kaohsiung Port’s External Traffic – AI Smart Signals by the Kaohsiung City Government wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Transportation – Transport Infrastructure.

– Knowledge Management for Flood Control System by the Department of Communications, Informatics, and Statistics of DKI Jakarta, Indonesia wins Outstanding Smarty City Project for Public Safety – Next-Generation Emergency Services.

– M4 Smart Motorway Project by the New South Wales Government wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Transportation – Transport Infrastructure.

– National Vegetable Quality Standard Center Test Demonstration Base Project by Shandong Wuze Ecological Agriculture Technology Development Co., Ltd. wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Smart Buildings/Tech Parks.

– RFID-based House Checking System by the Bannari Amman Institute of Technology wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Public Safety – Data-Driven Policing.

– Smart Gardens at Gardens by the Bay by Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech) wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Sustainable Infrastructure.

– Smart Work System by the Daegu Metropolitan City Government wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Pandemic Management.

– Taipei Digital 4.0 Pro Teacher-Student Platform by the Taipei City Government wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Education.

– The Summer Palace – Smart Tourism Project by Beijing Summer Palace Administration wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Economic Development, Tourism, Arts, Libraries, Culture, Open Spaces.

– Thriving Rangatahi Population Explorer by Vodafone Aotearoa Foundation wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Public Health and Social Services.

– Transport Data Analytics Platform (TDAP) by the Hamilton City Government wins Outstanding Smart City Project for Transportation – Connected & Autonomous Vehicles, Public Transit, Ride-Hailing/Ride-Sharing.
