Cisco has expanded its center for collaborative research and emerging technology in the U.K. to focus on the IoT market.

Cisco CREATE will bring together start-ups, industry experts, developers and researchers to develop technology solutions.

In 2014, British Prime Minister David Cameron announced that the UK government will spend over £45 million for developing technologies based on the Internet of Things (IoT).

Telecom regulator Ofcom is planning to draft appropriate regulatory framework to support UK’s IoT market.

“Digitisation poses opportunity for the UK — from connecting transport networks, to the prospect that it holds for efficiency in our healthcare system,” said Phil Smith, chief executive, Cisco UK & Ireland.
