Structured cabling seems to be a promising business given the proliferation of internet and associated devices and services. Technology research agencies find positive signs for this particular market segment in the coming years.
It’s worth mentioning that most cabling vendors are now offering, or focusing to provide eco-friendly solutions that will lessen pollution and hence climate change.
Major Players
Some of the major market players operating in the structured cabling market are: Legrand SA Belden, CommScope, Schneider Electric SE, Corning, ABB, Furukawa Electric, Nexans S.A. and Panduit.
Legrand provides a host of solutions designed to manage lighting, energy, networks and building access. According to the company website, Legrand intends to play in the market with interactive new infrastructures that can manage rising volumes of data, while at the same time giving importance to energy efficient products to address the environmental and energy resource concerns.
With a presence in more than 100 countries, Panduit also claims it offers environment-friendly solutions that unify the physical infrastructure to help its customers achieve operational and financial goals. The company’s market approach is comprehensive, as it offers every accessory required for a physical network infrastructure.
The latest product announcement from Panduit was in February, when it launched GTS-E Cable Tie Hand Tool that offers lowest industry handle force and resulting impact shock to increase productivity and promote worker safety.
CommScope focuses on wireless network site solutions on LTE capacity. It offers a Powered Fiber Cable System for transporting power and communications to tower surveillance cameras, Wi-Fi access points, small cells and other remote devices.
The Powered Fiber Cable System extends Power over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity for up to three kilometres and supports both single-mode and multimode fiber.
“From the tower top to bottom, CommScope is developing and supplying unique solutions that meet real-world needs,” said Ben Cardwell, senior vice president, Mobility Solutions, CommScope.
ABB believes macroeconomic and geopolitical developments are signaling a mixed picture. The company says it is well positioned to tap opportunities for long-term profitable growth.
