Gaming major Electronic Arts (EA) reveals main achievements

Electronic Arts (EA) has revealed financial performance and main achievements in its first quarter ended June 30, 2024.

EA reported revenue of $1.66 billion for the April-June quarter as compared with $1.924 billion in the same quarter last year.

Bookings for the quarter totaled $1.262 billion, driven by stronger performance across Madden NFL 24, FC Online and FC Mobile.

EA SPORTS FC celebrated real-world tournaments and events during Q1, attracting tens of millions of new fans and driving engagement across the franchise during the quarter.

EA SPORTS Madden NFL delivered sustained momentum through the quarter, with weekly average users in Ultimate Team and total net bookings up double digits.

During the quarter, EA revealed Dragon Age: The Veilguard gameplay, which trended #1 on YouTube Gaming and received millions of views.

EA SPORTS College Football 25 welcomed 5 million unique players into the game through its first week, with over 500,000 more playing via the EA Play trial.

Battlefield franchise, which has surpassed over 25 million players over the last twelve months.

The lines between traditional sports consumption and interactive sports entertainment will blur as hundreds of millions of fans increasingly connect with their favorite athletes, clubs and competitions through EA SPORTS.

“In EA SPORTS FC 24, teams celebrated real-life football events on console, PC, and mobile with UEFA EURO 2024 and CONMEBOL Copa America 2024, driving monetization,” Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, said during analyst call.

College Football 25 — powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) – created 150 stadiums and over 11,000 player likenesses. Players created one million teams.  College football elevates EA SPORTS leadership in American football by creating valuable new opportunities for sports fans.

Full game bookings were $168 million as it compares to three full game title releases from a year ago, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, EA SPORTS PGA Tour, and Super Mega Baseball 4. Live services and other bookings was $1.09 billion, highlighted by EA SPORTS Madden NFL 24 outperformance in the quarter.

Stuart Canfield, CFO of EA, said: “Looking ahead, the remarkable success of our launch week for College Football, combined with the upcoming launches for EA SPORTS Madden NFL, EA SPORTS FC and Dragon Age: The Veilguard, is building momentum for FY25 and beyond.”

EA is expecting revenue of $7.100 billion – $7.500 billion for fiscal year 2025. Booking is expected to be approximately $7.3 billion to $7.7 billion.

For the current quarter, EA is expecting revenue of $1.9 billion – $2 billion with net income of $204 million – $248 million.
