Samsung and MSME to set up Samsung Digital Academy

Samsung India and the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) have signed an agreement according to which Samsung will open MSME-Samsung Digital Academy.

Samsung said the academy will offer a skill development course based on the Tizen OS platform to the young students.

The objective to the academy is to train the youth who can leverage the software development and testing opportunities presented by innovative digital technologies based on the Tizen OS.

Last year MSME and Samsung partnered to set up technical schools in MSME technology centers across India and now the Samsung Digital Academy will be rolled out across those 10 technical schools in the first phase of the agreement.

Later academy will include Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and other key institutes of technical education and engineering in India

Company said every school will offer a four-week long course which will cover topics such as an introduction to the Tizen platform, the Tizen app development process, testing and debugging, device Application Program Interface (APIs) as well as packaging and installation of designed apps on various devices.

According to company officials, after attending the course students can also migrate existing apps on to the Tizen platform.

Tizen is an open and adaptable platform offering multi-application capability across a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets and TVs.

This innovative collaboration with Samsung will help youth learn to develop digital content for next-generation ecosystems,” said Kalraj Mishra, union minister for MSME.

Through the Samsung Digital Academy, we are looking to take this to the next level by creating an inclusive environment to help young India leverage the growing digital technologies market,” said HC Hong, president and CEO, Samsung India Electronics.
