Google threatens your privacy by promoting Google+?

Online search engine Google is set to break your privacy through its new initiative – which is aimed at promoting Google+, its answer to Facebook and other social media networks.

On January 10, Google said as per a new Gmail update, Gmail users can reach more people you know.

For instance, when you’re composing a new email, Gmail will suggest your Google+ connections as recipients, even if you haven’t exchanged email addresses yet.

Google claims that emailing Google+ connections works differently to protect the privacy of email address. Your email address isn’t visible to your Google+ connections until you send them an email, and their email addresses are not visible to you until they respond.

If you receive an email from someone outside your circles, it will be filtered into the Social category of the inbox (if enabled) and only after you respond or add them to your circles, can they start another conversation with you.

Google threatens your privacy by promoting Google+

The interesting aspect is that you may not know the Google+ user by his / her email id. For instance, Google+ user has an email id namely lionelmessi2@gmail. This id may not belong to football ace Messi of Barcelona, but may be of your rival with a competing company. If you are sending a sensitive mail, you do not have enough options to know who’s the actual user behind  lionelmessi2@gmail.

In addition, Google says you’re in control of whether people can reach you with a new setting in Gmail on the desktop.

Everyone knows that several mail users do not take the advantage of making changes in Gmail settings. That’s why Google users are still getting mailers or SMS just after searching some content online.

Please write back to us if you like this kind of promotions to augment the acceptability of Google+ network.

Earlier, Google mail users started getting mailers, saying “your contact has joined Google+. You can circle them if you want to connect them.”

This was done without informing your Google contact. You may have received a job application. You may never want to hire this person. Or someone sends you a promotional mailer. You never wanted this person to send one more mail to you. Since Google sent you a mail “requesting” you to connect with “your contact”, you are making an effort to increase your networking without knowing the aim of your networking aspirant.
