Status of computerization of Public Distribution operation

The India government has revealed the status of computerization of Public Distribution operation across the country.

Since the government could not achieve desired result, the duration of the program will be extended to 31 March 2018 from March 2017.

CR Chaudhary, minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, said that all state governments and UTs have digitized ration cards and implemented transparency portal and online grievance rederessal facility / toll-free number.

Online allocation has been implemented in 29 States/UTs and supply chain has been computerized in 20 States/UTs.

The validity of the scheme has been extended by one year i.e. up to 31.03.2018 without any escalation in the project cost to complete the project.
