Schneider Electric India has signed a contract with Naya Raipur Development Authority (NRDA) for developing smart city of Naya Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh state.
Schneider Electric and IL&FS Technologies, its consortium partner, will be executing the integrated smart city project.
Earlier, Sterlite Technologies announced a smart city project in Gujarat. Cisco earlier announced its participation in a smart city project in Maharashtra.
“The Naya Raipur Smart City project will be spread across verticals and integrate these diversified segments and I look to our dynamic team to make this real in a short span of time,” said Rajat Kumar, chief executive officer of Naya Raipur Development Authority.
Schneider Electric will be responsible for executing the integrated Command & Control Center and its overall integration covering transportation, surveillance, citizen applications, end-to-end Smart Grid solutions, end-to-end Water Management system and integrated Building Management System.
This transformation will be supported by connected products of more than 100,000 IO points, edge control, applications, advance analytics, and services. This architecture by Schneider Electric is open, scalable and interoperable. IL&FS Technologies has offered the citizen-centric services component (E-Governance) and transportation as part of the smart city project.
NRDA is aiming for Naya Raipur to be the first integrated city and aims to develop four pillars of Smart city across, institutional (including Governance/Legal Framework), physical, social and economic infrastructure.
It aims to deliver critical services like24 x 7 supply of quality water, metering of water connections, complete automatic generation of utility bills by application system, enhanced city security & safety, citizen based mobile apps & city portals including increased situational awareness to achieve a high level of operational readiness and substantial increase in the efficiency of operators and management.
“We shall leverage advancements in IoT, mobility, sensing, analytics, and cybersecurity technologies to make Naya Raipur a true smart city,” said Prakash Chandraker, managing director and vice president, Schneider Electric Infrastructure.
Centralised Command and Control Center (CCC) will help in managing the city operations and emergency response.
Schneider Electric said citizen services will give digital platform to citizens to interact with Administration, knowledge management for NRDA Staff, improving overall efficiency of NRDA operations.
