Odisha CM distributes digitised ration cards

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday distributed digitised ration cards under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) that would benefit 3.26 crore people.

In the first phase, the act would be implemented in 14 districts of the state from November 1 while the second phase would be implemented from December 1.

The chief minister said a total 3.26 crore people would be benefited with the implementation of the act in the state as they will get food grains at subsidised prices through the digitised ration cards.

Patnaik said the new act would ensure equitable distribution of food grains to all with focus on tribals, slum dwellers and other vulnerable sections of the society.

The NFSA aims to provide food and nutritional security by ensuring access to adequate quantity of quality food at affordable prices to people to live a life with dignity.
