Nadda launches National Health Innovations portal

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on Thursday inaugurated the National Health Innovations Portal and urged all the states to give priority to innovations for better outcomes in the area of healthcare.

He also launched NHP Voice Web, which is a 24X7 toll free helpline (1800-180-1104), where the caller can get authentic health tips on various topics ranging from handy health tips, disease based information and government health policies, a statement said here.

This advanced system is capable of recognising user voice input and gives information in five languages — English, Hindi, Tamil, Bangla and Gujarati.

Nadda said the intent of using telephone technology as a medium to disseminate information was to reach out to masses in remote locations, where there was no internet access, thus overcoming the barrier of illiteracy.

The launch was done during the inauguration of a three-day national summit on best practices and innovations in healthcare in India.

“Superior outcomes in health care in India will be better achieved with innovations in health practices and products, and I urge states to give priority to innovations and best practices,” Nadda said.

On the occasion, he also released guidelines prepared by the health ministry for the Rogi Kalyan Samitis functioning in the states and for disbursal of free drugs in the states.
