The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has launched the Digital India Common Service Center (DICSC) project to expand digital access in rural areas.

Key highlights include:
Starting in Pilibhit and Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, the initiative will establish 4,740 model DICSC centres in almost all gram panchayats across 10 districts, covering various states.
These centres will offer Aadhaar registration, banking, financial planning, tele-law, telemedicine, education, and e-commerce services.
Pilibhit will have 720 centres, Gorakhpur 1,273, and other regions like Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Maharashtra) and Khammam (Telangana) will have 870 and 589 centres, respectively.
The project has an initial budget of Rs 31.6 crore for six months, with a possible extension to nine months.
Each centre will feature high-speed broadband and modern facilities, functioning as a multi-purpose service hub.
The centres aim to empower Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), spurring economic growth and digital literacy in rural areas.
GPS-enabled mobile vans will promote government schemes and deliver essential services directly to remote communities.
This project underlines India’s commitment to digital inclusion, aiming to improve access to government services and strengthen local economies.
