Delhi government approves e-office project

Delhi will now be the first state in India to end dependence on paper-based file system and implement e-office in all its departments.

The Delhi government on Tuesday gave its approval to the e-office project, an official statement said. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. In the meeting, Kejriwal approved the e-office project to be implemented in all departments and autonomous bodies of the city government in a time-bound manner.

In the first phase, it will be implemented in 15 departments, where there will be no physical movement of files from December 1, the statement said.

Simultaneously, all other departments and their attached offices will start preparations for implementation of e-office.

The information technology department will be the nodal department for the project.

E-office provides an effective mechanism to work in a paperless environment, monitor the performance of individuals and enables employees to work at their convenience, the statement added.
