Shopify Technologies has launched a service — Commerce Components — enabling big retailers to select tools and services and integrate it with their own online sales platform.
Shopify Technologies, a provider of internet infrastructure for commerce, said it signed up toymaker Mattel for the Commerce Components product.
Sven Gerjets, CTO of Mattel, said: “We first worked with Shopify on a project called Mattel Creations, a platform for creators to reimagine the most iconic toys in the world. Creations empowered Mattel to move quickly, meet our customers, and leverage Shopify’s infrastructure to scale globally. We’re excited to transform our brand offerings using Commerce Components.”
Shopify also aims to offer Commerce Components to its existing enterprise clients such as Glossier, Coty, Steve Madden and Staples.
Shopify, which helps businesses set up their online store and website for a subscription fee, will allow retailers to pick and choose components, such as checkout and other back-office services, for their existing online businesses.
Shopify said the pricing for Commerce Components will depend on the retailer’s customization and components they choose to use. Currently, subscription for Shopify Plus starts at $2,000 a month and basic costs of $29, Reuters news report said.
Shopify earlier said more than 52 million consumers globally purchased from brands powered by Shopify this year, a 12 percent increase from 2021.
Shopify in a news statement said top-selling cities shoppers made online purchases from include London, New York, and Los Angeles. The United States, United Kingdom, and Canada were among the top-selling countries worldwide.
