Flipkart’s Big Billion Days 2023 Kicks Off with a Bang, Attracting 91 mn Customers on Early Access and Day 1

In a recent announcement on Tuesday, e-commerce giant Flipkart revealed that an astounding 91 million customers participated in its Early Access sale and Day 1 of the 10th edition of the highly anticipated Big Billion Days 2023 festive sales.
Flipkart India e-commerceThe festival, which officially commenced on October 8, with Early Access opening on October 7 for VIP and Plus customers, witnessed a remarkable growth in the Plus Visitor base, experiencing a sevenfold spike in orders over daily transactions.

Arief Mohamad, Vice President – Customer Growth and Loyalty at Flipkart, expressed, “Through innovative technology, diverse affordable payment options, and a truly accessible marketplace, we continue to redefine the shopping experience for millions of customers in India.”

Early trends indicate a robust customer sentiment overall, with significant demand observed in categories such as mobiles, appliances, lifestyle, beauty and general merchandise (BGM), electronics, and home.

Notably, smartphones in the Rs 20,000 and above segment witnessed a surge in demand, particularly among metro and Tier 2+ audiences. Bengaluru, Delhi, and Hyderabad emerged as the cities with the highest number of shoppers, followed by Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Chennai, and Gurugram.

In a surprising turn, cities like Hisar, Lucknow, and Patna also experienced a surge in orders placed by festive shoppers, showcasing the festival’s broad appeal across diverse regions.

Among the sellers on the Flipkart platform, lifestyle sellers experienced an impressive tenfold growth in orders compared to the pre-festive period, followed by furniture and electronics with eight and sevenfold growth, respectively.

Additionally, Flipkart Pay Later witnessed a remarkable fivefold spike in daily transactions during Early Access and Day 1, while EMI-based purchases saw a staggering twentyfold rise, highlighting the variety of payment options contributing to the festival’s success.
