Verizon, Google plan bidding for Yahoo’s core business-report

Verizon Communications and Google are planning to bid for Yahoo Inc.’s core business, Bloomberg reported, citing sources.

Verizon Communications Inc. would make a first-round bid next week, and is willing to acquire the company’s Yahoo Japan Corp. stake.

Bloomberg also reported that AT&T Inc, Comcast and Microsoft Corp. won’t bid this time. These companies have not responded so far to this news.

In response to the news, Yahoo shares dropped 1.3 percent to $36.17 on Thursday.
