TikTok chief executive officer Kevin Mayer, who recently joined from Walt Disney, has resigned from his job.
TikTok general manager Vanessa Pappas will replace Kevin Mayer on an interim basis, Financial Times reported, citing a letter sent to the company’s employees.
Currently, Microsoft, Twitter, Oracle, among others, are in discussion with TikTok owners to buy its American operations. TikTok is also facing a ban in the United States due to security reasons.
Kevin Mayer, born in 1962, is an American businessman. Kevin Mayer joined TikTok in May of 2020. He was the CEO of TikTok and COO of its parent company ByteDance until his resignation on August 26, 2020.
Prior to his appointment as TikTok CEO, Mayer was the chairman of Direct-to-Consumer & International division of The Walt Disney Company.
He was previously the senior executive vice president and chief strategy officer of Disney where he managed their acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel Entertainment, Lucasfilm, and 21st Century Fox.
