Google discloses revenue from cloud and YouTube business

Google has disclosed its revenue from cloud service and YouTube video business during the fourth quarter of 2019.

Advertising revenue on YouTube video business rose 31 percent to $4.7 billion during the fourth quarter.

YouTube generated about $750 million in subscription and other non-advertising revenue, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said.

YouTube ads generated revenue of $15.15 billion in 2019 compared with $11.16 billion in 2018. Google’s cloud business generated revenue of $8.92 billion in 2019 compared with $5.84 billion in 2018.

YouTube ads generated revenue of $4.72 billion in the fourth quarter as against $3.61 billion in the fourth quarter of 2018.

The segment does not include YouTube’s non-advertising revenue, like subscriptions for YouTube TV, which are included in Google’s other revenue segment. YouTube’s non-advertising revenue reached $3 billion revenue run rate in the fourth quarter.

Google’s cloud business generated $8.92 billion in revenue in 2019 and $2.61 billion in the fourth quarter. Google’s cloud business generated revenue of $5.84 billion in 2018 and $1.71 billion in the fourth quarter of that year.

Google in July said its cloud unit just reached $8 billion in annualized revenue and planned to triple its sales force over the next few years.
