Social media network Facebook posted $9.321 billion (+45 percent) revenue and $3.894 billion (+71 percent) profit in the second quarter ended June 30, 2017.
“We had a good second quarter and first half of the year,” said Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO. “Our community is now two billion people and we’re focusing on bringing the world closer together.”
Capital expenditures (Capex) of Facebook for the second quarter of 2017 were $1.44 billion.
Facebook said it is utilizing artificial intelligence technology to understand people’s interests and suggest meaningful ideas to groups. Facebook, in the six months, helped more than 50 percent more people join meaningful communities.
Facebook achieved daily active users (DAUs) of 1.32 billion (+17 percent) on average for June 2017.
Facebook has monthly active users (MAUs) of 2.01 billion (+17 percent) as of June 30, 2017.
Facebook said mobile advertising revenue represented approximately 87 percent of advertising revenue for the second quarter of 2017, up from approximately 84 percent of advertising revenue in the second quarter of 2016.
Facebook’s headcount rose 43 percent to 20,658.
