Facebook generates $4.3 bn revenue from advertisement

Social media network Facebook said its revenue rose 41 percent to $4.5 billion in the third quarter of 2015.
Facebook generated $4.3 billion revenue from advertisement, increasing at 45 percent.

Daily active users (DAUs) of Facebook rose 17 percent to 1.01 billion. Mobile DAUs increased 27 percent to 894 million. Monthly active users grew 14 percent 1.55 billion. Mobile MAUs enhanced 23 percent to 1.39 billion.

Mobile advertising revenue represented approximately 78 percent of advertising revenue for the third quarter of 2015 against 66 percent in the third quarter of 2014.

Facebook has invested $780 million towards capital expenditures.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and CEO, said: “We’re focused on innovating and investing for the long term to serve our community and connect the entire world.”

1.39 billion people use Facebook on mobile devices, including more than 1 billion on Android. 50 million people also use Facebook Lite, its app for people on low bandwidth connections.

More than 925 million people now use Groups each month. In some countries, more than half of the population is participating.

There are more than 8 billion daily video views on Facebook and more than 500 million people who are watching daily.

The social media network has more than 2.5 million active advertisers on Facebook and more than 45 million small and medium-sized businesses actively using Facebook pages.

In terms of growth in user base, the three largest countries were India, the U.S. and Brazil.

U.S. and Canada and Asia Pacific were strongest markets, producing ad revenue growth of 56 percent and 48 percent respectively. Europe and Rest of World grew more slowly at 33 percent and 29 percent respectively.

Mobile ad revenue rose 73 percent to $3.4 billion, representing 78 percent of advertising revenue. Revenue from ads served on personal computers fell 8 percent.

Facebook rolled out free basic Internet services to people in 29 countries, and overall brought more than 15 million people online. Internet.org in India has supported more than 1 million people who now have access to the Internet.

Last quarter, WhatsApp messaging platform reached 900 million monthly active users and will reach 1 billion people and beyond. Messenger has over 700 million monthly active users.
